Outside of battle, you'll be able to explore the land and use your Pokemon for traversal. Two examples shown by Nintendo include a Braviary for flight, a special Wyrdeer to help you navigate on land faster, and a Basculegion for when you need to explore rivers and seas.
Just don't think about Basculegion's messed-up backstory and you'll be fine. Customization will also play a large part in your journey, with the option to equip different clothes, accessories, and hairstyles helping to create a unique character for your journey across the region inhabited by multiple clans.

In those cases, that verbiage most likely refers to the in-game option to purchase a Switch Online subscription, which enables you to play multiplayer if you aren't already signed up.
In Sword and Shield, you can buy the expansion pass through an in-game storefront, which opens up the possibility of something similar for Pokemon Legends: Arceus, but nothing's confirmed yet. Of course, it's always possible Nintendo is in fact planning to incorporate some form of microtransactions in Pokemon Legends: Arceus - and in we certainly aren't ruling anything out - it's just worth pointing out that other microtransaction-free Pokemon games have the same lingo on their ESRB ratings.
Either way, we've reached out to Nintendo for clarification, and we'll update this article if we hear back. Some monsters such as Bidoof will simply ignore the player, while others like Shinx will become aggressive and attack if they spot them, requiring a different approach to catch.
The battle system also has a few new wrinkles in Pokemon Legends. Players can initiate a battle by sending their own Pokemon out near a wild monster. These encounters are still turn-based, but now players can command Pokemon to use Agile Style or Strong Style versions of their attacks. Agile Style sacrifices some power but will allow your monster to move again more quickly, while Strong Style takes longer to unleash but is much more powerful. PS Now may be undergoing changes as physical subscription cards are pulled from stores overseas.
